Metacomet-Monadnock Trail (M&M)

Throughout North Quabbin, MA

The North Quabbin section of the 160-mile trail from CT to NH includes beautiful state forests & waterfalls.

Extending for 160 miles, the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail begins on the Metacomet Ridge in Connecticut, follows the traprock ridges north along the Connecticut River through Massachusetts, then in Montague turns northeast and heads to Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire.

The beautiful and varied North Quabbin section of the white-blazed M&M traverses Wendell, Erving, Northfield, Mount Grace, Warwick, and Royalston State Forests, as well as public roads and some private property. Hikers here can pick up the northbound trail in Wendell State Forest or the southbound from Royalston Falls. There are Adirondack shelters at each of these points, as well as in Warwick State Forest, and a state campground in Erving Sate Forest.

The M&M trail is maintained by the Berkshire Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club, which publishes a useful guidebook. Parts of the M&M Trail have been designated as a National Scenic Trail, and the North Quabbin’s Tully Trail shares a section of it.
