Description:

One of two lovely recreational lakes in Athol (the other is Silver Lake), Lake Ellis offers a great beach and picnic area. Boaters also enjoy the lake (no wakes, please), and anglers aim for bass, pickerel, bluegill and hornpout. Because the Quabbin Anglers Organization stocks trout for their annual ice fishing derby, a summertime line may also pull up a trout.

Directions:

From Athol center, east on Main St. 0.4 mi., bear left on Rte 2A (& Rte 32) go 1.1 mi., right on Lake Ellis Rd 0.3 mi. to beach.
