Description:Located at Harvard University’s Harvard Forest, the Fisher Museum displays 23 world-renowned dioramas - miniature, three-dimensional, incredibly lifelike models of forest scenes. Seven of the models depict one location and show the changes over 300 years of history, from pre-settlement to farm clearing to the return of the forest. Six additional models portray conservation issues, and ten explore issues in forest management. The museum also houses other exhibits related to Harvard Forest history and research, and offers a monthly-changing film about some aspect of the forest or local cultural history. Maps of Harvard Forest’s interpretive trails are available at the museum; these trails tie museum exhibits to the living forest. There is no fee to enter the museum, but donations are appreciated. Directions:From Rte. 2, take Exit 17 and go 3 miles south on Rte. 32 to museum on left. Contact:
