Seeds of Solidarity

165 Chestnut Hill Road, Orange, MA
(978) 544-9023

Farm and education center providing practical tools for renewable energy and community-grown organic food. Seasonal farmstand, visiting days, and workshops are also available.

Description:

Seeds of Solidarity is a nonprofit education center whose home is a for-profit farm – the combination is dynamic. As a working family farm, Seeds of Solidarity demonstrates organic growing, season-extending methods, and the use of renewable energy in the production of garlic, specialty greens, and flowers for restaurants, coops, and markets.

Among the initiatives of the nonprofit education center are Farm to School programs that promote school gardens and access to local food; SOL (Seeds of Leadership) Gardens, an after-school and summer program for youth; the SOL Patrol, which takes a biodiesel van to various venues; apprenticeship and internship programs for farmers and educators; and Senior Farm Share, which provides free, fresh produce to low-income seniors. Seeds of Solidarity also sponsors the annual Garlic & Arts Festival, a celebration of agriculture, crafts, music, and community.
