Picnic tables by the Connecticut River and seasonal riverboat cruises. Description:Amid woods and fields, slopes and valleys, Northfield Mountain offers a guided nature trail, the Rose Ledge rock climbing area, and 25 miles of hiking trails, including an overlook at the 1,100-foot summit. In the winter those trails are beautifully groomed for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, with runs suitable for novice, intermediate and expert skiers. A shelter called the Chocolate Pot in a sunny mid-mountain spot offers a fire and snacks on weekends. From Rte. 2 in Erving, go 2 miles north on Rte. 63 to main entrance, on right. Contact:
