Cutting a Bond with the Long Trail

A remarkable tribute to a man who died doing what he loved but far too young, a collection of journals and poetry written during treks along Vermont's Long Trail.

Description:

This is a remarkable book, a tribute to a man who died doing what he loved but, at age 26, far too young. Ned Green grew up  in the North Quabbin, reveled in the outdoors, hiked and climbed with verve in many places. Ned especially championed Vermont's Long Trail, a 270-mile trek through the state between the borders of Massachusetts and Canada. He worked on this trail with Green Mountain Club crews and was the last person of the 1900s to hike it end to end. The book is a colection of Ned's journal entries, letters, poetry, itineraries, and maps, plus comments and letters from friends, colleagues, and family.

These works were compiled by Ned's mother, Clare Green, herself a resident of the North Quabbin, a guide who knows its trails, a performer who brings to life historical characters, a teacher, a woman who shares her own knowledge in myriad ways.

Cutting a Bond with the Long Trail is available at the North Quabbin Woods Showroom, at various shops in the area, and through the author. Proceeds from the sale of this book support the Ned Green Scholarship Fund and the Green Mountain Club.
