Landowner education, conservation and sustainable management of working forests throughout the North Quabbin Region and New England. See website for properties.

Description:

New England Forestry Foundation is a recognized leader in conserving working forests, educating the public about forestry, and assisting landowners in the long-term protection and sustainable management of their properties. NEFF owns and manages over 125 demonstration forests, totaling more than 22,000 acres throughout New England. Almost all of these properties are open the public. NEFF also holds 113 conservation easements, protecting over 1.13 million acres of forestland.

Five NEFF forests are here in the North Quabbin: Chase Memorial Forest and Ehrich Forest in Royalston, and Battle-Dorrance Memorial Forest, Fittz Family Memorial Forest and Hosmer Woods in Orange. Also here, NEFF launched the North Quabbin Woods initiative, headquartered in Orange and dedicated to sustainable forestry, forest products and forest recreation.

NEFF welcomes members and donations and can work with landowners seeking to protect their property. Visit the organization’s website for details. The website also includes descriptions of all NEFF's community forests and a list of upcoming events.
