Marketing Specialist


The New England Forestry Foundation seeks a full-time Marketing Specialist to implement and expand the North Quabbin Woods Project’s (NQW) wood products and ecotourism marketing program and regional branding effort. This job consists of a wide variety of responsibilities, with a shifting focus throughout the year.

Responsibilities:
1) Market NQW wood products and ecotourism.
  • Identify new venues for promoting locally made wood products and the North Quabbin Region;
  • Develop and update print material, web content, and advertisements promoting the region’s locally made products and recreation resources;
  • Host booths at local and statewide festivals and farmer’s markets for wood products sales and referrals and North Quabbin regional promotion;
  • Maintain marketing/media contact and deadline lists;
  • Create/distribute press releases for NQW related events;
  • Serve on ecotourism event and promotion committees (i.e. North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce Ecotourism Committee and local festival committees).

2) Coordinate annual publication of the North Quabbin Regional Map & Guide.
  • Solicit advertising listings, update map and listing data;
  • Distribute Map & Guide.

3) Co-manage the NQW Showroom.
  • Manage product inventory;
  • Update product information on website;
  • Complete sales and provide referrals;
  • Track customers/sales;
  • Arrange showroom and storefront window.

4) Assist Project Director with coordination and expansion of the NQW artisan network.
  • Assist with membership activities, meetings, and correspondence;
  • Identify and contact new artisan members for the network.

5) Assist Project Director with development activities for NQW project.
  • Research and co-write grant proposals for NQW programs.

6) Support New England Forestry Foundation Mission.
  • Incorporate NEFF’s mission into the work of NQW;
  • Attend NEFF staff meetings.

Desirable Characteristics:

  • At least two years work experience in marketing;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Competent with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software;
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop/PageMaker/Illustrator;
  • Experience researching and writing grant proposals;
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills and ability to interact comfortably with community members;
  • Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision;
  • Creativity and initiative to conceive and implement new NQW programs;
  • Availability to attend occasional night and weekend meetings and events;
  • Familiarity with the North Quabbin region;
  • Familiarity with (or interest in), land conservation, forestry, wood products and “buy local” efforts.

Location: NEFF’s North Quabbin office is located in the center of Orange, Massachusetts.

Duration:
