Bill Bynre is a professional wildlife photographer living in Petersham, Massachusetts. His magnificent photo collection captures action shots of native birds and animals from the North Quabbin region, the east coast, and Canada. His photography is featured in the 2009 Wild Treasures of the Northeast calendar and has been published in National Wildlife, Smithsonian, Sanctuary, National Audubon, and Northern Woodlands magazines.

Bill began his photography work while studying at the University of Maine in Orono. He developed a drive to capture images on film while observing wild animal behavior and dramatic habitat scenes, first just to share with others and later to achieve higher goals. His photography skills evolved with college elective courses, workshops, reading, practice, and learning from trial and error. He worked to attain the high standards of quality exhibited by nature photographers whose work he admired.

Today, Bill is the wildlife photographer for Mass Wildlife and travels extensively with biologists in documenting the state’s flora and fauna. His favorite part of photography is the idea generation in planning the image. “I like the anticipation and planning that helps make an idea work. You see the creature through the lens and then it’s time to go to work,” described Bill.

The North Quabbin region is a paradise for its wilderness setting. Bill has enjoyed living in the region for over 25 years. “I love being near the Quabbin and all of the resources of Franklin and Northern Worcester counties,” added the artist.
