Heyes Forest Products

Heyes Forest Products began manufacturing lumber in 1970 and moved to the Orange Industrial Park in 1984, where it now saws two and a half million board feet each year of lumber from the North Quabbin region. Lumber is manufactured on a state-of-the-art computer controlled linebar resaw, and the computer-controlled dry kilns have a capacity of 110,000 board feet. Manufacturing accuracy and quality are prime goals of Heyes Forest Products.

Heyes Forest Products is a member of both hardwood and softwood national lumber grading agencies. Lumber is sold kiln dried and offered finished into flooring, paneling, and molding as well as square edge boards for both the wholesale and retail trade. Noted for its fine quality White Pine and Red Oak, Heyes Forest Products also produces high quality Birch, Maple, Cherry and Beech.

Fred Heyes is committed to long-term management of the forest base, and in 2001, fourteen tracts of company owned or managed land were protected from future development by conservation restrictions held by the Commonwealth. This land is permanently preserved for forest management, and is open to the public.

Starting in 1970 with an old-fashioned circular sawmill that was moved from woodlot to woodlot, Fred Heyes has built a modern efficient manufacturing facility offering high quality products from the North Quabbin.
